Adults Only Hotels in Scotland - listed from south to north

Queensberry House
Moffat. A five minute walk from the centre of Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway, the house has three guest rooms all on the ground floor. The Moffat Distillery is the only wood-fired still in Scotland.

Park Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast
Turnberry. There's one luxury suite of three rooms on the ground floor for one or two adults over 25. Breakfast freshly prepared in the farmhouse kitchen, picnic tables around the duckpond and of course it's close to that nice Mr Trump's Turnberry golf course.

Rosemount
Lanark. Set within the garden of the main house, the B&B has two purpose-built bedrooms. Breakfast in the Coach House. Pubs and restaurants are a short walk away and New Lanark cotton spinning mill village is well worth a visit.

House of Gods
Glasgow. The perfect hedonistic hideaway for two is how the hotel's website describes it. There are four unapologetically extravagant bedrooms, a luxuriant lounge and a rooftop garden. Looks like quite an experience.

Edinburgh. The Times' description 'Edinburgh’s sexiest hotel where bling is king' or the hotel's own 'where decadence meets debauchery and more is more' pretty much tells you all you need to know about this rather fine and opulent place.

Westcot Guest House
Callander. This period cottage B&B has three bedrooms and is an ideal base for exploring Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.

Arden House
Callander. Rooms named Tannochbrae, Finlay and Cameron, an elegant guest sitting room, games room for pool or snooker, terrace for that quiet drink and a putting green. Also a self-catering studio apartment that should be called Janet but isn't - ideal for couples.

Dungallan Country House
Oban. Recently renovated, the rooms are tastefully furnished the four suites featuring bathrooms with roll top baths, stand-alone power showers and underfloor heating. The guest lounge/library is a soothing place in which to enjoy a drink from the bar.

Whisky Vaults Hotel
Oban. In the centre of Oban, there are ten rooms on three floors but no breakfast - but then with a traditional whisky bar on the ground floor who needs breakfast. There are regular wine evenings and whisky tasting sessions throughout the year.

Kings Knoll Hotel
Oban. Standing in its own grounds, Kings Knoll Hotel enjoys magnificent views over Oban Bay and the Sound of Kerrera. Fifteen bedrooms, 'Oban's Top Whisky Bar' and a patio on which to enjoy a peaty, smoky Islay. Private parking and EV charging.

MacKay's Guest House
Oban. A 4 star guest house on Oban's seafront featuring spacious bedrooms with king size beds and comfy chairs. Free off-road parking.

Letterellan by Loch Tay
Pitlochry. Twenty five miles south west of Pitlochry, Letterellan or 'steep land' stands alone on the banks of Loch Tay. Run by a Savoy-trained hotelier, there are two bedrooms, landscaped gardens and an A-Z whisky collection in the Whisky Library.

Willow Cottage
Tobermory. On the Isle of Mull, there are three bedrooms at this recently renovated cottage. The Tobermory Distillery is within staggering distance: there's gin to try as well as whisky.

Inverlochy Villas
Fort William. You're really spoiled for choice when it comes to the view: the River Lochy and the Jacobite Steam Train or Ben Nevis. There are eight rooms, four glamping pods, two EV charging points, a lock-up for your bike, freshly baked cake on arrival and even breakfast in bed should you so wish.

Craggan
Ballater. In the heart of Royal Deeside in the Cairngorms National Park, the former Scottish Manse has two spacious rooms and affords great views of The Coyles of Muick, Cairn Leuchan and Lochnagar. Balmoral Castle is a few miles away.

Clune House
Newtonmore. As a base for exploring the Cairngorms and even the occasional distillery - Dalwhinnie is ten miles away - this three bedroom B&B could be ideal.

Foyers House
Loch Ness. At this small guest house in private grounds in the Highland village of Foyers you can wake up to panoramic views of Loch Ness and in the evening relax in the Wee Dram bar which offers an unrivalled selection of Scotch whisky.

Foyer's Bay Country House
Loch Ness. There are six rooms at this rather nice guest house. Breakfast in the conservatory while admiring the magnificent view of Loch Ness. Tasty evening meals ordered in advance are available on weekdays.

Kilmichael House
Loch Ness. In Drumnadrochit, close to the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre, this solid Victorian house is in its own grounds and is surrounded by impressive Sequoia trees. There are four B&B bedrooms in the House and a further four in the adjoining self-catering Kilmichael Lodge.

Dunhallin House
Inverness. A four star B&B with great service in relaxing surroundings. Five rooms, set in a quiet area of the town.

Moray Park Guest House
Inverness. Located in the heart of the city across the river Ness from the Eden Court Theatre and Inverness Cathedral, there are many fine bars and restaurants within walking distance. Loch Ness and Cawdor Castle are a half hour drive away. Free car park.

Isla Bank House
Keith. The house stands in its own grounds, has four rooms, dinner is available every night, the bar has a good selection and you're only a stone’s throw from some of the world’s oldest whisky distilleries and a short ride from wild mountains and unspoilt sandy beaches.

Broomlea
Nairn. In a lovely rural location on the outskirts of Ardersier and a ten minute drive from Nairn's sandy beaches, this guest house has three ground floor double bedrooms, a garden with a barbeque and sun loungers and it's handy for some wonderful golf courses too.

Off The Hill
Isle of Skye. Located on the edge of Isleornsay on the Sleat peninsula, there are three double rooms, great views, a hearty breakfast and the local pub is within walking distance.

Taransay House
Isle of Skye. Dinner prepared by a chef who's worked in Michelin starred restaurants, spacious rooms, a complimentary coffee machine in the lounge, terrace, private parking, sea and mountain views, in Portree.

Dalriada Guest House
Isle of Skye. In Achachork, a five minute drive from Portree, there's a generous continental breakfast served in the dining area which has panoramic views to the Cuillin range. Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing, Dunvegan Castle and Fairy Glen are within half an hour.

Hazel Bank
Isle of Skye. A couple of miles outside Dunvegan, the three rooms are decorated with art and photography from local artists. Nearby Dunvegan Castle is the oldest continually occupied castle in Scotland having been a home for 800 years.

Grianaig Guest House
Isle Of South Uist. On the Isle Of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides the hunkered-down, four room guest house offers breakfast, chef-cooked evening meals, an alcohol licence and a guest lounge in which to enjoy your wee dram. EV charging too.

Ardmore House
Lochinver. A few miles north of Lochinver, there are two guest bedrooms, home-made organic bread and preserves and home-grown ingredients wherever possible. A simple home-cooked two course supper is available by arrangement - feel free to bring your own bottle. Car park and storage for bicycless, kayaks, etc.

Tigh Na Sith
Lochinver. On the coast thirty five miles north of Ullapool and forty five miles west of Lairg, this three room 4 star guest house enjoys spectacular views of the Loch and over the Minch towards the Outer Hebrides. There's EV charging in the public car park next to the guest house.

What's your definition of 'adults only'?
By adults only we mean places that only allow people aged 16 and over on the premises. Many of the hotels we list actually have a higher age limit, typically 18+.

What do hotels mean when they classify themselves as adults only?
Interpretation of 'adults only' varies greatly so, unless a hotel's website clearly states its minimum age we ask and only include hotels that are at least 16+.
